For me, Art is a distillation of experiences, a summation and reflection of an environment perceived through personal filters.

As an Artist I become the interpreter and translator, inviting the viewer to participate in those relationships to nature and humanity.

I search for expression of a spiritual essence, a concise statement, one which comes before the hand touches the surface of the paper or canvas. It is that poetic truth that transforms nature's specifics and releases them with exuberant freedom. Here is the moment when the artist feels the most control. Form and color are separated from their obvious relationships, they are then captured, rearranged and reorganized into new statements from familiar experiences.

As an artist, I know not what door or window my work will open for others. I can only hope the expression created will have enough eloquence to strike a responsive cord within the viewer, perhaps to trigger a new insight.
